Almost half of all consumers like email marketing

Consumers may complain about spam, but almost half of them (45%) say they like receiving details and information about new products or offers.
A new report just out says of the 500 people surveyed, 45 percent say they would definitely “be interested” in receiving details about new products or special offers in their email. Twenty-five percent agreed that deals offered to them when they were checking their accounts would interest them.

Ron Shelvin, the author of the study and an analyst from the Aite Group explained the appeal of email marketing to shoppers.

"Consumers are most willing to receive marketing offers through email because it is a manageable channel," he said.

Not only can recipients quickly decide whether or not they want to open the newsletter, they’re able to delete if they decide not to, he said. That makes it a pretty appealing form of marketing.

Rewards program users were even more receptive to email newsletters the study learned.
The findings are making the rounds. An article in last months Compelling Marketing Blog advised businesses to make sure their email marketing contained relevant and updated content because consumers are reading them!

Not only that, by publishing the email newsletter on the company website businesses increase search engine optimisation for their company and product!
