An improvement in technology in recent years may have been a possible contributor to the increase in the effectiveness of email markeing. With banners, skyskrapers, flash applications and games among the many new features of email marketing, readers are given much more of an incentive to open them.

The latest research shows that in the US, spending on email marketing is set to go up by 5.1% in 2008. This increase will no doubt be mirrored in the UK, given the recent trend for companies to invest larger parts of their budgets in online marketing.
