Email tracking software helpful

You can’t keep it all on paper or in your head. Success in tracking trends in email marketing requires more than hunches. To know how your target audience responds to your campaign requires good software; and the successful email marketers know it. They know that to hit on a great or even a solid marketing formula requires precision.
David Baker of Email Insider offers practical advice to marketers who want to improve their response rate – find a pattern in the way your customers respond to their emails. Email marketing is the fastest expanding marketing channel according to a variety of studies, most notably the Direct Marketing Association. The DMA said last year’s expenditure on email markets rose by 19 percent in 2007.

There’s simply too much data to crunch in your head, so either look for good number-crunching programs or software designed to help you spot trends. Some of the things marketers should look for include site visit depth, duration on site and how many visits the customer has made to the site from the first email to the last. The numbers are meaningless in quantity. They need to be broken down into subsets that enable the marketer to spot emerging trends.
